about us

Newly awarded with a coveted MICHELIN Star, Artichoke in Old Amersham, is owned and led by Chef Patron Laurie Gear and his wife Jacqueline.

Since first opening their doors in 2002 they have been a fantastic voyage of discovery and an evolution of innovative cooking in Buckinghamshire.

Located in the heart of the old town, Chef Patron Laurie Gear, together with Head Chef Chris Chegwin, and a loyal and dedicated team, strive to offer the very best neighbourhood dining experience.

Artichoke offers inventive and refined modern European cuisine with a strong emphasis on seasonality.

Working closely with high quality artisan producers and local craftsman, helping to tie together their strong ethos, and Artichoke has received many awards and accolades for its seasonally changing menus, matched with impeccable service.

interiors

Interiors are influenced by Scandinavian chic and design by Fiona Johnston Parke from the award-winning Emily Todd Hunter, compliments original features of the 16th century Grade Two listed building with inspiration drawn from Laurie's time spent in Scandinavia.

The seamless and welcoming space features soft muted tones of walnut, soft greys and pale lilacs, peppered with amethyst glass and local hand-crafted pottery vases.
